Eligibility checking for schools

Early Years Pupil Premium (EYPP) is for eligible children in school nursery classes. For EYPP we offer an eligibility checking service to all schools and academies free of charge.

To check eligibility we need the parent’s national insurance number, date of birth and surname. This information is collected on the Early Years Parent Declaration Form that parents are required to complete when they are claiming the free early years entitlement at school. For children who meet the leaving care eligibility criteria, schools should request a copy of the evidence to support this and mark them as care leavers on the census.

Parents can submit declaration forms at any point in the term. The eligibility check will be completed once a term, the week before census day. Each school will receive one email for all children indicating who is eligible for the funding.

Pupil Premium

Early Years Pupil Premium is only for children in nursery classes. Children in reception through to year 11 who meet the Free School Meal criteria will attract Pupil Premium. As not everyone who is eligible will be claiming their free school meal, we offer an eligibility checking service which enables you to check eligibility to make sure your school is getting all the Pupil Premium you are entitled to. This service costs £325 per submission. One submission can be for an unlimited amount of children so you can potentially check your whole school.
