Emergency planning

Our response in an emergency

During an emergency we will co-operate with the emergency services to provide support to the people in its area. We, upon request, will provide resources available to mitigate the effects of the emergency on people, property, the environment and infrastructure.

We will play a key role in co-ordinating the response from the voluntary sector and will endeavour to continue to provide support and care for the local and wider community. We will take the leading role in facilitating the return to normality, providing restoration and regeneration as required.

We will ask public, private and voluntary organisations for their co-operation and support in resolving any difficulties in a combined and co-ordinated response.

Civil Contingencies Act

The Civil Contingencies Act: A Short Guide provides and overview of the act and responsibilities of Category 1 and Category 2 responders to civil emergencies.
