National Libraries' Week 2018

We are having a number of events in our libraries to celebrate National Libraries' Week 2018. The week runs from Monday 8 - Saturday 13 October. Come along and join us.

Help your child get into reading

A history of the Manchester Bee

Ever wondered why the bee is the symbol of Manchester? Join us for an illustrated talk by Gareth Hacking of the Manchester bee website and learn more about the history of this enduring symbol of the city.

A Knight's Journey to the King's Throne

Wednesday 10 October, 4-5pm

Join Explore Learning in the medieval times as they help you on your quest to become a grammar knight and build your confidence to becoming a fearless learner of the future! For children aged 7-9.

Drop into Fab Lab's animation workshop to help create a stop-motion animated film! The event is in the Fab Lab downstairs from the library. This is a free event.

Mindfulness taster sessions

Monday 8 October, 11-11.30am and 1.30-2pm

Restore calmness to a stressful world. Learn how being ‘in the moment’ can help reduce stress.

Free half hour session – just drop into either session, no need to book. No experience or equipment needed.

Gentle yoga taster session

Thursday 11 October, 11am

Come and try half an hour of gentle chair based yoga. suitable for all ages and no previous experience needed.

Baby savers

Thursday 11 October, 10am to 12noon

Would you know what to do if your baby stopped breathing? This 2 hour first aid sesson will give you the confidence to cope in an emergency.

Complementary therapies with Rebekah

Friday 12 October, 9am-12noon, 1-3pm

Reflexology, massage, Reiki and more. Come along for a 15 minute taster session, minimum £3 donation per session. You are welcome to book a slot on the day or just drop in.
