Trafford Council now has £20,000 of Community Safety Grants up for grabs. The money is to support individuals and local community groups looking to set up community projects to help tackle community safety issues.
Through the scheme, individuals and community groups with project ideas that will benefit local communities, can bid for a share of the money. Projects need to show how they will benefit local communities by helping tackle issues such as youth nuisance and misuse of green spaces.
Applying is easy, it just needs a short application form completing, giving an outline of the project idea, why it is needed and the difference it would make to the local community.
To help people wanting to submit an application, the Council is hosting two drop in sessions. Staff will be on hand to help with filling in application forms or advise on the best ways to establish a project.
Trafford's Executive Member for Communities and Partnerships, Cllr John Lamb, said: "The Council is committed to encouraging and supporting the many local people and community groups that are working tirelessly to improve things in their local neighbourhood. By working together, we are all able to ensure the Borough remains a safe, green and attractive place where people love to live and visit.
We know our communities relish the opportunity to be involved in keeping their local areas safe. Through this scheme we are able to provide funding support for many of the innovative projects and ideas which are imaginative residents come up with. Their ingenuity and understanding of local issues and ideas around tackling these never cease to impress us. I am really looking forward to seeing many more new ideas coming to us in this latest grants round.
We also want to make sure that people who think they may have an idea suitable to apply are able to talk through their ideas and be guided as to the best approach to take. This is why I would encourage as many people as possible to come along to one of our drop in sessions to have a chat and find out more."

North Trafford locality, covering Davyhulme /Flixton/Urmston/Partington/Stretford/Old Trafford

All applications must be submitted by noon on Friday, 7 April 2017. Following this a panel made up of members from each local community, will consider all the applications in early May.
