Greater Manchester Mayoral elections: Candidates confirmed

Details of the confirmed candidates in the first ever Greater Manchester Mayoral Elections have been published.
 

There are eight people standing in the historic elections which take place on Thursday 4 May 2017. A full list of candidates can be found at www.gmelects.org.uk/candidates
 
The deadline for people to be on the electoral register is Thursday 13 April.
 
Anyone who is already on the electoral register at their current address need take no further action to ensure they can have their say.
 
But anyone who is not registered and wants to take part in encouraged to register as soon as possible.
 
Registration is a quick and easy process. You can visit www.gov.uk/register-to-vote to download a registration form. You will just need your date of birth and national insurance number. If you need to update your details (for example if you have moved house, or changed surname through marriage) you should contact your local council.
 
The deadline for anyone who is on the electoral register to request a postal vote is 5pm on Tuesday 18 April.
