Trafford residents encouraged to bid for Community Grant funding

Trafford residents and local community groups who have an idea for a community project that will benefit their area are being encouraged to apply for a share of this year's Locality Partnerships £80,000 community grant funding.

Previous community grant awards have already enabled many innovative and exciting local projects to be developed and delivered, which continue to benefit local communities.

Trafford Council's Corporate Director of Transformation and Resources, Joanne Hyde, said: "Thanks to the success of the Council's community grants scheme, we have been able to offer real support to people who, thanks to their vision and fantastic community spirit, have been able to transform their ideas into reality.

To see just what a difference can be made when individuals and groups of people come together for the good of their community is inspiring. I am sure that we are once again going to get some amazing ideas and suggestions submitted and look forward to seeing these. I would encourage anyone with an idea, no matter how small or localised, to make sure they get their application in so that they are in with a chance of securing the funding that they need."

The short application form is easy to complete and just requires an outline of the project idea, why it is needed and a brief explanation of what difference it will make to their local community. All entries must be submitted by 9am on Monday 15th May 2017.

Local people will make the final decisions about which projects will secure funding at four public voting events held over the summer. The dates and locations of the meetings are:

  • Saturday 3rd June at Celebrate Sale Festival, Sale Square Shopping Centre, M33 7WZ, 12pm-3pm
  • Sunday 4th June at the John Leigh Park Centenary Celebration, John Leigh Park, Oldfield Road, Altrincham, WA14      4EQ, 11.30am - 2pm
  • Saturday 10th June at Eden Square, Urmston M41 0NA, 11am-1pm
  • Saturday 24th June at Trafford LIVE 2017, Trafford Town Hall, Talbot Road, Stretford, Manchester M32 0TH, 12pm-2pm.
