Sporting Stars to be celebrated as Trafford launches Sports Awards

Do you know someone in your community who has selflessly sacrificed their time for others and demonstrated their commitment to sport and physical activity in your community?

The launch of the Trafford Sports Awards 2016-2017, by the Trafford Sport and Physical Activity Partnership, gives you the perfect opportunity to nominate them and see their efforts recognised.

Whether an individual, volunteer, club, school or coach, a talented athlete who has achieved great things, or someone who, through sport and physical activity has changed their lifestyle for the better, we need to know.

An esteemed independent panel of judges, including representatives from the Partnership, will face the difficult task of selecting the winners in each of the eight categories - Sports Achiever of the Year, Disabled Sports Achiever of the Year, Coach of the Year, Club of the Year, Unsung Hero, Volunteer of the Year, Changing Lifestyle Recognition Award, School Commitment to PE and Sport Award

Chair of Trafford Sport and Physical Activity Partnership, Andy Worthington, said: “Local heroes come in all shapes and sizes, but they all have one thing in common, the outstanding contribution they make within their community.

This year’s event promises to be a marvellous celebration of sport and physical activity in Trafford, with our sporting heroes the glittering stars.  We have so many reasons to be proud of our sporting community and look forward to recognising their achievements on the night.

As well as receiving the local recognition they thoroughly deserve, all Trafford’s winners will go on to represent Trafford at the Greater Manchester Sports Awards later this year. Here they will rub shoulders with many famous sporting personalities and national athletes. These true sporting heroes will be our ambassadors, their presence reinforcing all that is great about sport and physical activity in Trafford.”

Nomination forms are now available online at www.traffordpartnership.org for you to nominate an individual, club or school you feel deserves your nomination. Nominations should cover achievements from September 2016 to August 17.

Nominations close at 9am on Monday 31st July.

It’s not just sporting heroes who can get involved in this event.

This year’s awards offer fantastic sponsorship opportunities for companies that share our passion for celebrating local heroes. If your company places creativity, motivation and determination to succeed high on its agenda, we could have the perfect sponsorship opportunity for you.
