Annual Canvass 2019

From August 2019 Household Enquiry Forms will be delivered to all households. Look out for your form arriving on your doorstep. We are required to write to each household as part of an Annual Canvass to confirm that the information we have on the electoral register for that property is correct.

On the inside of the form are the names of the people who are currently registered to vote at your address. If the form is blank that means no one is registered.

It is vital householders complete this information as quickly as possible. You need to provide this information in order to either confirm or update your details on the electoral register and to be able to vote in any future elections. .

You can provide this information online or use the telephone or text services instead of returning the paper form back in the post.

You must have your security codes to hand to use these services. Your security codes can be found on either the front page or on the top right side of page 2 of your Household Enquiry Form

If all the details are the same, you must confirm this to us. You can do this by:



Calling:  0800 197 9871 and when prompted enter part 1 and part 2 of your security code


Text: NOCHANGE followed by your security codes to 80212 (standard network charges apply).

Don't forget to include any 16 or 17 year olds. They'll be eligible to vote when they become 18, but not before.

If you are unable to use any of the above options, you can complete the form and post it back to us.  Please do not return the form if you've confirmed using one of the automated options above.

This is an enquiry form only - if you add someone's details to the form they will not appear on the electoral register. They can register individually or we will send them a personalised invitation to register form.

Invitation to Register Forms

Once we know who lives at a property we send out an Invitation to Register form to every person who is not currently registered.

You can provide the information requested using the secure online government service  , you can use this service to:

   Register to vote, or

   Update your name, address or other details

You will need your National Insurance number and date of birth. Your National Insurance number can be found on your National Insurance card or letter, or on official paper work such as payslips or letters about tax or benefits. If you cannot find your National Insurance number, visit 

If you haven't been given a National Insurance number, you will need to provide a reason when applying. We will then contact you and request that you provide further evidence to confirm your identity.

We require a response to the Household Enquiry Form from every household, so please ensure that as well as registering to vote individually you also respond to the Household Enquiry Form on behalf of your household.
