Polling District and Polling Places review

In accordance with the provisions of the Representation of the People Act 1983 and Section 16 of the Electoral Administration Act 2006 the Council must undertake a review of the polling districts and polling places within its area every four years.

The Electoral Registration and Administration Act 2013, Section 17, covers the review of polling districts and polling places in Great Britain.  Legislation states that it is a requirement that the next review must take place in the period of 16 months from 1 October 2013.

Any boundary changes identified as part of the review will take effect from 17 February 2014, which is the date of the publication of the revised Register of Electors 2014.

The Returning Officer for Trafford is responsible for the polling stations, which are the rooms within polling places where the poll actually takes place. As part of the Review, the Returning Officer must formally comment on both the existing polling stations and, if relevant, any probable polling stations based on any new recommended polling places.
