If you wish to show, demonstrate or perform a hypnotism act in public in Trafford, you must have authorisation from Trafford Council.
You must comply with any conditions attached to an authorisation.
Meaning of Hypnotism
'Hypnotism' includes hypnotism, mesmerism and any similar act or process which produces or is intended to produce in any person any form of induced sleep or trance in which the susceptibility of the mind of that person to suggestion or direction is increased or intended to be increased but does not include hypnotism, mesmerism or any such similar act or process which is self-induced (Hypnotism Act 1952 section 6).
Will tacit consent apply?
No. It is in the public interest that we process your application before it can be granted. If you have not heard from us within a reasonable period, please contact us.
Where tacit consent is applicable, it will only apply for licences / registrations that are submitted electronically or the business can show proof of delivery from a post office or recognised courier.
What if the application is refused?
Please contact us in the first instance.
We would always advise that in the event of a complaint the first contact is made with the trader by you - preferably in the form a letter (with proof of delivery). If that has not worked, if you are located in the UK, Advice Guide will give you advice. From outside the UK contact the UK European Consumer Centre.
