Trafford Council is responsible for granting and the enforcement of a large range of licenses, permits, notices and permissions within Trafford Borough including: street trading; taxi and private hire vehicles; street cafes; marriage venues; gambling premises and pet shops. You need a licence if you are going to sell or supply alcohol, provide regulated entertainment or supply hot food or drinks between 11pm and 5am.
The Licensing Team can investigate complaints made about Private Hire and Hackney Carriage taxis.
Review of Trafford's licensing policy
Trafford Council is currently reviewing its licensing policy, with the intention that any amended policy will become effective on 7th January 2021.
The Council is consulting a range of bodies as part of this process including those that represent residents, local businesses, premises licence holders and other interested parties in the Trafford area.
Changes to Licensing Act 2003
Changes to the Licensing Act 2003 brought about by the Immigration Act 2016 are now in force requiring all applicants for premises and personal licences to prove their eligibility to work in the UK and provide proof of immigration work status.
