Trafford iBAN
A messaging system to keep rogues at bay, making our business community safer.
There is a myriad of scams, frauds and rip-offs aimed specifically at business. Such schemes include fake directories, bogus Health & Safety officials and the offers of prime position within an internet search engine.
Businesses can now stay one step ahead of rogue traders, scams and cons with a free service which sends out timely warnings. Trafford iBAN, which stands for “informed Business Alert Network” is a service now available to all business in the borough. Members of the scheme can either opt for a pre-recorded phone message or email to inform them about potential rogue traders.
Members are also encouraged to spread the message to neighbouring businesses and colleagues to warn them of potential scams. As a member, you will be positively encouraged to report anything suspicious to Trading Standards – you may not have fallen for the scamster’s patter but the next business they call may do and an iBAN Alert could prevent this.
Trading Standards will work closely with Greater Manchester Police to bring you well-timed messages about what is happening locally and, where appropriate, national trends. We may also inform you of changes to legislation to help you comply with trading laws.
This is a completely free service, your data will be protected and if you wish to leave the system at any time, your information will be deleted and you will not be contacted again.
Further details, including registration forms, are available at any Trafford library, by emailing trading.standards@trafford.gov.uk, or by phoning 0161 912 1377. Alternatively, you can apply online at IBAN online application form.
