If you need to get in touch you can use our online forms to do this.

Before you start

Before you start to complete any of our online forms, make sure you have the following:

Your Council Tax account reference number - this can be found in the top right hand corner of your bill. It's an eight digit number and begins with a 4.
The address of the property you are paying for

Let us know about a change

To inform us of a move in or out of an address use our Change of Address forms.

To request a change in your payment method, including signing up to pay by Direct Debit or telling us about a change to your bank details if you already pay by Direct Debit, use our Payment Method Change form.

To inform us of a change to your circumstances which means you are no longer entitled to Single Person Discount or need to claim Single Person Discount as you are now the only adult over 18 living in your property use our Single Person Discount form.

How to view your Council Tax account online

You can also sign up to OpenPortal, the online facility that allows you to view details about your Council Tax account (and Housing Benefit/Council Tax Support claim if you have one) and request copies of your Council Tax bill.

General Enquiries

If you need to submit a general enquiry that is not related to any of the above online forms then you can use our General Enquiry form. Provide as much information as possible on this form so that we can quickly answer your query, in addition to uploading any associated documents you feel are relevant to your query.

Do not use this form to inform us of a change of address, a change to your payment method or to notify us if you either become entitled to or no longer qualify for the Single Person Discount. Using the General Enquiry form for any of these areas will result in a delay to us processing your information.

If you don't have a Council Tax account already but have a query relating to Council Tax (if you are new to the Trafford area you can use the Change of Address form to notify us that you have moved in), you can contact Access Trafford on 0161 912 2220.
