Voter ID requirement

All voters attending a polling station in person must present valid photo ID before receiving a ballot paper. 

If you do not have an accepted form of ID, you can apply for a Voter Authority Certificate. The deadline to apply is 5pm on Tuesday 28 April.

The Electoral Commission offer a wide range of guidance and resources for Candidates and Agents.

The Nominations Process 

We will be offering all potential candidates and agents a briefing session before the start of the nomination period.

This year, the nomination period will start at 10am on Tuesday 31 March and end at 4pm on Thursday 9 April, which is the statutory deadline for the submission of nomination papers.

Briefing session

We will be holding online candidate and agents briefing sessions at 5pm on: 

  • Thursday 19 March 2026
  • Tuesday 24 March 2026
