Trafford's Core Strategy: Submission - December 2010

Trafford's Core Strategy was submitted to the Secretary of State on Friday 3 December 2010, in line with Regulation 30 of the Town and Country Planning (Local Development) (England) (Amendment) Regulations.

Trafford's Core Strategy: Publication - September 2010

The Council published the Core Strategy Publication document on Monday 20 September 2010, for a statutory 6-week consultation.

Further Consultation on the Vision, Strategic Objectives, and Delivery Strategy - March to April 2010

In November 2009 the Council consulted on changes to a number of Core Policies detailed in the Core Strategy. That consultation also detailed that further consultation on the Vision, Strategic Objectives, and Delivery Strategy would be undertaken in advance of the Core Strategy being Published and Submitted to the Secretary of State.

Further Consultation on Core Policies L2, L4, L5, W1 and R5 - November to December 2009

In June 2009 the Council published its Further Consultation on the Preferred Option. A number of comments were submitted on this document which required further consideration. In November 2009, the Council consulted on changes to a number of Core Policies detailed in the Core Strategy.

Core Strategy: Further Consultation on the Preferred Option - June to August 2009

The Core Strategy: Further Consultation on the Preferred Option for Trafford details a spatial vision for delivering the Sustainable Community Strategy; a single Spatial Strategy for the future development of the Borough to 2026 and beyond; draft wording for the Core Policies that will be used in the determination of planning applications within the Borough and; a number of Strategic Locations and Sites that will provide the main areas for change, development and regeneration.

The consultation on the Preferred Option took place between 29 June and 10 August 2009.

Preferred Options Consultation - July to August 2008

The Preferred Options for Trafford were expressed as 3 Spatial Options which outlined 3 different scenarios for the future of the Borough. The Spatial Options set out how places could develop over time in terms of the amount and location of growth, the provision of necessary infrastructure and also how the Borough's natural and built assets can be nurtured and protected.

The Preferred Options were developed from the Issues and Options consultation stage and refined through a Sustainability Appraisal and with reference to the Council's Sustainable Community Strategy. In addition to assessing the possible future effects of each Spatial Option, on each Place within Trafford, a suggested policy framework was set out alongside with the identification of a number of key Strategic Sites. Together these would deliver the Spatial Strategy.

The consultation on the Preferred Options took place between 16 July 2008 and 27 August 2008.

Development Management and Core Policies - Issues and Options Consultation - November to December 2007

A document was prepared to supplement the Trafford Core Strategy Issues and Options Paper (July 2007), which sought views on a number of Development Management Policy Options and the proposed Core Policy areas.

An informal public consultation took place in November/December 2007.

Issues and Options Consultation - July to September 2007

In the course of the Issues and Options stage the "places" within Trafford were identified along with the issues they face. Informal discussion presentations took place at Neighbourhood Forums to enable members of the public to look at the different "Issues" that have been identified and explore what "Options" could exist to address them. In addition to this, a discussion event was held with key stakeholders in Trafford.

An informal public consultation took place between July and September 2007.
