Plans and policies for the future local development of Trafford
Information on how we plan for the future development of Trafford. Plan making involves guiding new development to appropriate locations, while protecting our natural environment and built heritage. It also provides guidance to developers on submitting planning applications.
If you are interested in self-build or custom housebuilding a property in Trafford, you can register your interest on the self and custom build register.
The register will provide us with an indication of the level of demand for self/custom housebuilding in the borough and it will help inform the development of planning and housing policy and decision-making of planning applications.
As part of the preparation of planning documents, we regularly consult with the public. Details of all of our current Strategic Planning consultations are set out in this section.
We declared a Climate Emergency in November 2018, since then we have developed a Carbon Neutral Action Plan, which includes a Carbon Neutral Framework developed by climate change consultants Anthesis.
A joint sub-regional plan dealing with cross boundary and strategic planning issues until 2037. Once adopted, Places for Everyone will form part of Trafford’s Development Plan.
