From the end of September 2013, the Government will introduce a cap (or limit) on the total amount of welfare benefits that working-age people can receive, so that households on out-of-work benefits should no longer receive more in welfare payments than the average weekly wage for working households.

Benefits for people away from home

Description
Normally, we will only pay Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit while you are living at the property. In certain circumstances we can pay benefit while you are away from home. To qualify you must intend to return to the property following the absence and the property must not be sublet or relet while you are away. You must tell us as soon as you know you are going to be away from home.
