Free SIM cards

We have partnered with Good Things Foundation to offer free SIM cards to residents experiencing data poverty. The National Databank scheme is supported by UK mobile networks, Virgin Media, O2, Vodafone and Three and offers mobile data, texts and talk minutes to residents in need.

To be eligible for a free SIM, residents must be:

  • Aged over 18
  • On a low-income

Most of our Trafford libraries stock Databank SIMs and can provide Trafford residents facing disconnection with free data SIM cards.

The process is simple, just turn up at your nearest library offering the Databank and ask at reception for a Databank SIM. Use our Digital Map to locate your nearest Trafford library offering Databank SIMs or email digitaltrafford@trafford.gov.uk for more information.

Join the Greater Manchester Databank

Are you an organisation interacting with low-income residents facing disconnection? By signing your organisation up to the National Databank, you can help support Greater Manchester residents on low incomes from becoming at further disadvantage by being unable to access the opportunities digital access brings.

The offer is suitable for community organisations and charities that directly support people experiencing data poverty. This allows them to reach the people who would most benefit from access to free data and supports them to activate and begin using the data.

Organisations need to sign up to be a member of the Online Centres Network and will then be asked to complete a short application form to join the National Databank.
