Coronavirus (Covid-19): Registrars update

Important information about changes to our services

We are monitoring the current situation on coronavirus, closely following information and advice published by the government.

In order to minimise face-to-face contact and group meetings, which will help to prevent the spread of coronavirus, some services will need to be delivered differently.

Information for parents registering a new baby in the current environment

Birth Registration appointments are being put on hold until we are through the current pandemic period.

New parents can now make a claim for child benefit or universal credit before they register the birth. There will be no penalties for births registered after 42 days.

Information for bereaved families registering a death in the current environment

We only have a small waiting area so social distancing is not easy to manage.

One relative only needs to come to register a death.

If you need to register a death and are showing any symptoms or self-isolating,  contact us on 0161 912 3026 before attending our office.

Marriage Ceremonies and Civil Partnership Formations

Currently marriage and civil partnerships have been suspended until the 20 April 2020. No new ceremony bookings or notices of marriage or civil partnership will be accepted during this period.

Current government guidelines state that hotels, pubs and clubs must remain closed until further notice. If you are getting married or having a civil partnership in such a venue in Trafford please contact your venue directly. You can contact us via email registrars@trafford.gov.uk for further information.

For marriages at Churches in Trafford, contact the relevant Church directly.
