Volunteer foster carers
Volunteer home from home carers support children and young people in their spare time. Children and their families usually need support at weekends, in the evenings and during school holidays.
You can offer as much support as you are able to, but we would ask that you are available at least once/twice a month.
Will I be paid for providing care?
Yes. You will be paid an allowance to cover expenses. £60 for overnight and £30 for day time, up to 8 hours.
Will I receive support and training?
Yes, full training will be given. You will receive ongoing support from the child's parents and from the children with disabilities team. A full fostering assessment will be undertaken and agreement at the fostering panel will be required prior to your approval as a foster carer.
Will I have to undergo a background check?
Yes. Criminal records bureau checks and other references are carried out.
