Community Safety Response

We are required to work with partner agencies to develop strategies to address crime and disorder.

The Community Safety Team covers a wide range of areas including:

  • Hate Crime
  • Domestic Abuse
  • Serious Violence Reduction
  • Organised crime and exploitation
  • Community Safety Issues
  • Prevent Duty

We adopt a preventative approach to community safety and works in partnership with Greater Manchester Police, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, and the Social Housing Providers in Trafford.

In some cases, where behaviour is persistent and warnings are not heeded, enforcement action may be taken.

Community Protection Notices can be served where:

  1. the conduct of the individual or body is having a detrimental effect, of a persistent or continuing nature, on the quality of life of those in the locality, and
  2. the conduct is unreasonable.

The Community Safety Team will not directly get involved in individual neighbour disputes but can assist with making referrals for mediation.

Where the matter involves criminal behaviour or serious harassment, we will work with our partner agencies to help find a solution.

How to report community safety problems

If you are a social housing tenant you should contact your landlord and ask to speak to your housing officer or ASB team.

Alternatively if you are a home owner or private tenant then contact the Community Safety Team.

Case review

The case review (also known as the Community Trigger) is a process that has been introduced to allow members of the public to ask the Safer Trafford Integrated Partnership Team to review their collective response to complaints of crime and anti-social behaviour (includes Trafford Council, Greater Manchester Police, Trafford Housing Trust, Irwell Valley, Your Housing Group and numerous smaller registered providers).

If you would like to apply for a case review, complete the ASB case review form.
