Public health regulation
Regulation of business activities which are of public health significance such as acupuncture, tattooing, ear piercing and electrolysis, and control of the spread of infectious diseases within the community.
Legislation requires that both the person carrying out acupuncture, ear piercing, tattooing and electrolysis, and the premises where the treatment takes place, are licensed with the local authority. Currently Trafford Council does not require licensing of other "special treatments" such as massage, facial treatments, reflexology etc.
Legionellosis is the term for infections caused by Legionella Pnuemophila with the best known illness being Legionnaires Disease.
The tattoo hygiene rating scheme has been launched across Greater Manchester and all registered tattoo studios are encouraged to join. The scheme is free and aims to drive up hygiene standards and the adoption of best practice across the country.
