Terms and conditions for pest control treatments

Trafford Pest Control will always strive to ensure that:

  • The pest control and management work are carried out in accordance with the latest and best industry codes of practice, conforming to all regulations and statutory requirements.
  • Customers are provided with prompt and courteous service delivery.
  • Complaints are dealt with swiftly and satisfactorily.

All pest control treatments are carried out subject to the following terms and conditions.

The service and payment for service

  1. Trafford Council contracts to undertake pest control investigation and/or treatment at the prices stated on the fees and charges web page.
  2. Trafford Council is a member of the British Pest Control Association and all treatments are undertaken in accordance with industry best practice.
  3. Payment for fixed price, domestic investigations and/or treatments must be made at the time of booking.
  4. Payment can be made with a credit or debit card when booking by telephone or online. Bookings made at libraries can be by card, cheque or cash.
  5. The price is made up of two parts: a call-out fee and an investigation and/or treatment fee.

Cancellations and missed appointments

  1. If you cancel the booking with more than one clear working day’s notice we will refund the investigation/treatment fee and the call out fee.
  2. If you cancel the booking with less than one clear working day’s notice of the (first) appointment we will refund the investigation/treatment fee only.
  3. If you miss your appointment or reschedule with less than one clear working day's notice of the appointment you will need to re-book and pay the call out fee again.
  4. Even where work has already started, you have the right to cancel the contract for treatment/investigation within 14 days of booking. If you decide to cancel after treatment has commenced, you will be asked to pay for any work which has already been undertaken and the retrieval of any materials and equipment.

Our responsibilities

  1. We reserve the right to refuse or withdraw our service at any time if we suspect that there has been a breach of any health, safety or environmental guidance or if you fail to take action in response to a written request from us.
  2. We will not undertake any pest control treatment or other work at your premises without a responsible adult being present (over 18).
  3. Before carrying out any treatment involving the use of pesticides we will conduct a risk assessment to determine the most appropriate method to use. A report will be provided to you. We will provide general information about the pesticides used at your premises and will provide additional information upon request.
  4. The Council does not accept any liability for loss, damage or injury to any domestic animals, birds, goods or equipment unless the loss, damage or injury was occasioned by negligence of the Council or its employees.
  5. Upon completion of the treatment we will remove any unused poison and our equipment.
  6. We reserve the right to charge for any missing or damaged bait boxes, traps or similar equipment listed on the treatment report. This charge may also apply if we are unable to recover this equipment from you.
  7. Where it is suspected that an infestation is being caused by a defect in the building structure or by actions/activities at the property you will be advised and written recommendations will be given.
  8. Telephone calls may be recorded for training or security purposes.
  9. If we cannot attend due to unforeseen circumstances (e.g. adverse weather conditions, sickness, travel/transport issues) and we cannot offer a suitable appointment within two working days of your original appointment and treatment has not already started, we will offer a full refund.

Your responsibilities

  1. Keep children, livestock and pets away from pesticides, baits and traps. Do not disturb or otherwise interfere with pesticides, baits or traps.
  2. Advise us immediately of any interference with pesticides, baits or traps and/or where you suspect that there is a risk to persons, animals or the environment from our treatment.
  3. Properly dispose of dead rodents or other pests from your property. (Wrap and place in the general waste bin).
  4. Carry out any pre-treatment requirements – failure to do so may result in us refusing to treat without refund – for fleas, bedbugs.
  5. Carry out the recommendations of our pest control officers for treatment of your premises (contained in the ‘Proofing Report’.
  6. Keep appointments with us or tell us at least one clear working day in advance if you are unable to keep an appointment; failure to do this may result in an additional charge to re-book
