Wheeled bin administration and delivery charge terms and conditions

1. Charges

1.1 The charge is an administration and delivery charge for bins.

1.2 There are no charges for green outside food waste caddies and silver kitchen caddies.

2. Payment

2.1 Payment can be made by credit or debit card only. Payment is made to Amey not Trafford Council, with Amey LG appearing on your bank statement.

2.2 Cash and cheques are not accepted as payment except in the exceptional circumstances when a resident genuinely does not have access to a credit or debit card.

3. Eligibility

3.1 The standard bins in Trafford are as follows:

  • 140l grey bin for non-recyclable waste
  • 240l black bin for mixed recycling (glass, cans and plastic bottles)
  • 240l blue bin for paper and card
  • 240l green bin for food and garden waste, Silver kitchen caddy for food waste
  • Green outside caddy for food waste (usually delivered if you don’t have a garden)

3.2 Requests for additional grey bin capacity for large families will be assessed on an individual basis in line with Council policy.

3.3 If upon delivery it is found that you already have a grey bin, and therefore your order exceeds our household entitlement we will not complete your delivery and no refund will be made. A card will be left to advise you why the bin has not been delivered.

4. Delivery

4.1 The customer does not have to be present at the time of delivery.

4.2 A signature is not required for the bin to be delivered.

4.3 A calling card will be left at the property to confirm delivery has been made.

4.4 The customer is responsible for ensuring adequate access to the property for delivery of the bin. For example, any gates should be left unlocked and dogs should be kept inside the property.

4.5 The bin will be delivered on the scheduled delivery date, except in the circumstances listed below at 5.1.

4.6 We may use re-conditioned bins(s) to fulfil your order

4.7 If you are in the process of moving home, please wait until you have moved before ordering any new bins. You should leave any bins at the property that you vacate and do not take them to the new property.

4.8 If you are requesting a bin to be exchanged, your old bin must be put out before 6:30am on the delivery date or we will not be able to deliver your new one.

5. Failure to deliver

5.1 Delivery of the bin will be made on the scheduled delivery date, except in circumstances outside of our control, for example access issues such as locked gates, adverse weather, vehicle breakdown.

5.2 Where a bin has not been delivered for reasons such as those listed at 5.1, delivery will be attempted again as soon as is operationally possible.

6. Cancellation and refunds

6.1 The customer may cancel the order up to 11.59pm two working days before the scheduled delivery date, for example if the delivery is scheduled for a Wednesday then you can cancel up to midnight on the Monday. The payment will be refunded in full.

6.2 Refunds will take up to 10 working days to be processed from the date of cancellation.

6.3 Cancellations and refunds will not be permitted in any situation other than those outlined in 6.1

6.4 In instances where a replacement grey bin has been ordered and a bin of that type is found to be on site at the time of delivery of the new bin, the new bin will not be left. The payment will not be refunded.

7. Ownership

7.1 The bin remains the property of Trafford Council.

7.2 The bin should remain at the property for which it has been purchased.

7.3 Bins should be used for their intended purpose. If they are misused or contaminated with the wrong types of waste the Council reserves the right to remove them. If you then require a replacement you will have to pay the administration and delivery charge.
