The role:

We are recruiting a high energy, driven and confident Community Engagement Coordinator with a keen interest in unlocking potential in the community and helping students in their pursuit of Higher Education. We are looking for a genuine team player who demonstrates the innovation, determination and resilience needed to help us grow our community network, creating unique and game-changing initiatives to recruit students from hard to reach audiences and areas.

The successful candidate will be a self-starter, used to working in a fast paced organisation. This individual must embody the values, ethos, and core principles of UA92; they will be a highly effective problem solver with great people and customer service skills and a passion for the forging relationships with a wide range of audiences, from community leaders to college principals, from youth zone members to year 12 and 13 students – they will think deliberately differently in order to spread the message of University Academy 92’ and drive applications.

Your main duties and responsibilities will include:

  • To take lead responsibility for the recruitment of students in particular communities and groups in general as part of the broader student recruitment efforts.
  • To quickly establish and maintain excellent relationships with key stakeholders including teachers and careers advisors and community leaders to develop a sustainable pipeline of prospective students and raise aspirations in targeted areas.
  • To be responsible for achieving challenging student recruitment targets through high quality activities and the provision of information, advice across the Greater Manchester community, schools, colleges and recruitment events across the UK..

Student Recruitment:

  • Be responsible for account managing target schools, building and sustaining successful relationships with variety of stakeholders.
  • Represent UA92 at external recruitment/school and college events throughout the UK and create community led events where target groups are likely to attend.
  • Give information, advice and guidance to prospective undergraduate students about courses at UA92, the UCAS process and student finance.
  • Deliver high quality presentations about UA92 and other aspects of higher education both on and off campus.
  • Plan, deliver and evaluate fun accessible activities that raise aspirations in the local community whilst building awareness of UA92, ensuring information is accurate, up to date and appropriate for the relevant audience.
  • Develop, deliver and evaluate online recruitment and conversion activity such as web chats and virtual open days.
  • Support the access and participation agenda, specifically delivering recruitment activities for target groups.

Relationship building:

  • Create new, long-term relationships within identified communities in Greater Manchester and become a consistent and constant presence and advocate for UA92 in those areas.
  • Liaise and network with teachers, careers professionals and community organisations to develop effective relationships to meet challenging recruitment targets.
  • Support the development of strategic relationships with key schools and colleges to drive recruitment to UA92.

Data and evaluation:

  • Collect, monitor and share data on UA92’s recruitment activities and in particular, play a key role in managing the ‘target schools’ plan using available data.
  • Contribute to the evaluation and development of UA92 student recruitment activities.

Qualifications:

  • To degree level
  • Demonstration of sustained professional development (Desirable)

Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent account management
  • Excellent engagement and communication in a client facing and business development focussed role
  • Highly organised, with an ability to prioritise and manage competing demands and multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to work effectively and accurately under pressure and meet challenging deadlines
  • Excellent organisation skills with the ability to solve problems creatively and quickly
  • Ability to work proactively on your own initiative with minimum supervision and to work collaboratively, building strong and productive working relationships across the organisation
  • Experienced and thrive delivering against targets and goals
  • Good knowledge of the Greater Manchester business community and challenges facing the Greater Manchester economy, with particular knowledge or interest in the Digital Sector (Desirable)
  • Experience of income generation (Desirable)
