About us:

Stretford Public Hall is a community-owned, multi-purpose building. Our aim is to create space for good things to happen in Stretford.

The hall is run by Friends of Stretford Public Hall, who have owned the building since a community asset transfer in 2015. We are a charitable Community Benefit Society which is a type of co-operative. We have over 800 members.

We provide accessible community space and deliver our own programme of events and activities, including arts activities, live music nights, community cinema, and health and wellbeing activities.

We are also one of six Community Hubs operating across Trafford. We work closely with Trafford’s health and social care teams, to provide support and access to services for local Stretford residents.

Any profit we make from our activities is reinvested into the running and restoration of the hall. Download our vision & values.

Why we want you:

Running events that are open and accessible to the local community is at the heart of what we do here at the hall! We need volunteers to help us set up, pack up and make our guests feel welcome.

What you will be doing:

  • Setting up tables, chairs and equipment for events.
  • Stewarding: ensuring the building is staffed and accessible for the public to use and aiding to evacuate people in case of an emergency.
  • Greeting visitors and signposting people to events happening at the hall including how to get to various rooms.
  • Tidying up and packing up after an event.
  • Events Volunteers report to our Volunteer Coordinator, but you will be supervised by another member of staff depending on the task – you will be told in advance who to report to.

The skills you need:

  • Reliable, friendly and polite.
  • Positive nature and an interest in providing excellent customer experience.
  • Outgoing and able to talk to visitors about activities and the hall.
  • Team player; supporting and listening to other volunteers.
  • Willing to learn.

What's in it for you:

  • The opportunity to meet new people and make friends in a supportive community setting.
  • The opportunity to attend community events and activities and to play a role in delivering these events.
