find my past

Genealogy website Find My Past is available on all Trafford Library PCs with a library card membership.

The Find My Past website is an extremely popular research tool for customers wanting to trace their family tree and contains birth, marriage and death records, census records (published every 10 years from 1841-1911), the 1939 register, electoral registers, military records and many other resources.

This is an entirely free service that has been made possible through the partnership work of the Greater Manchester Archives and Local Studies Partnership. Find My Past will be digitising a selection of GM local authority records for inclusion on their site and in return will be supplying free access to all libraries in the Greater Manchester area for the next ten years.

The 1921 census is only currently available for free at Manchester Central Library and isn’t part of the Trafford Libraries Find My Past offer.

Visitors to the Trafford Local Studies & Archive centre (located in Sale) will receive 3 free hours of PC access which including subscriptions to Find My Past, Ancestry and The British Newspaper Archive. The usual charges for printing still apply.

You can see a list of all Libraries in Trafford from the Libraries homepage, each Libraries page includes opening hours and facilities available.
