The Gorse Hill area derives its name from Gorse Hill Farm. It covers an area of 4.59 hectares.

The Parks and Countryside Service is currently working with Gorse Hill Community Action Group to develop the park.

History

This land was a dairy farm in the 1880's and occupied the fields on either side of Chester Road, including the fields on the east of Chester Road which are now part of Gorse Hill Park. Gorse Hill Park was officially opened in 1923.
