Davyhulme Park

With two bowling clubs, tennis courts with free lessons, a basketball court and children's play area, there is something for everyone to enjoy. For nature lovers, an area of small trees and brambles next to the Winchester Road Bowling Green has been left undisturbed for the wildlife. The park also has two large ponds which are thriving with a wide selection of wildlife. Lily pads will soon be added to create shelter and protection to the many fish and newts. A beautiful sculpture of an acorn and squirrel donated by United Utilities sits proudly overlooking the ponds. Mancunian graffiti artist Kelzo transformed the concrete skate park and created a memorial to the 22 victims of the Manchester Arena attack. Bees and flowers now adorn the ramps and this has been enjoyed and welcomed by children of all ages. Davyhulme bowling club also carried on the bee tribute and the pavilion is a sight to behold. An application to the Woodland Trust for the Queens Canopy saplings was successful and a planting ceremony will take place with local children who will create a bee friendly wild flower garden. An oak tree and time capsule will also be planted on behalf of Manchester airport’s 80th birthday. This will regenerate an area that was previously neglected and overgrown.
