Friends group

The Friends of Victoria Park formed in March 2002 as a Constituted Community Group, after a few local residents became concerned about the park. A small committee formed, with the aim of encouraging visitors and making Victoria Park a safe and welcoming environment.

The first official event was a very successful Easter egg hunt. This was followed by an equally well attended Christmas fair. Over the years, events have included Viking encampments, brass band concerts, bat watches, crafting groups, Halloween processions, gardening groups, dog shows, and sports days. The summer music event, Picnic in the Park in 2019 welcomed over 5000 people to enjoy a day of live music.

Since August 2018 FOVPS has been a registered charity as a CIO and is now responsible for managing The Tea Room community cafe and new Community Building as a social enterprise, ensuring all profits go back into running activities and events to benefit the whole community.

We have a weekly activity schedule, with both indoor and outdoor groups. When not in use, the Community Room can be hired out for private parties or meetings, and is available free of charge to local schools on Friday mornings. We have fully accessible toilets, including a Changing Places Toilet, the only one in any park in Trafford.

From an underused space, Victoria Park has become the hub of the local community. We're easily accessed from public transport, so come and join in one of our new regular activities, have a meal or snack in The Tea Room, or just enjoy a walk through Victoria Park.
