Trafford residents invited to have their say on crime and community safety

Trafford Council, Greater Manchester Police and agencies that make up the Safer Trafford Partnership have launched an on-line survey to capture the views of local residents, community groups and businesses on crime and community safety in the borough.

The Greater Manchester Police and Crime Plan ‘Standing Together’ was launched in 2018 following consultation with stakeholders and residents across Greater Manchester and Greater Manchester Combined Authority recently announced the release of £100,000 to each authority to fund community action to tackle crime and support community safety. The Safer Trafford Partnership want to hear from local people to ensure Trafford’s priorities are aligned with the Greater Manchester strategy and explore how to get the best out of available resources.

The survey can be found at www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/TraffordCrimeandCommunitySafety2018 and is open until 31st July.

Councillor Catherine Hynes, Deputy Leader of Trafford Council, welcomes the views of local people; “Whilst Trafford is the safest borough in Greater Manchester, there has been an increase in reported crime across the country whilst at the same time reduction in police resources. We want to hear from local residents on their priorities and also their ideas on how we can work more collaboratively across agencies and with communities to keep Trafford safe”

In addition to the survey, the Safer Trafford Partnership are running a series of events to get the views of local people, with the opportunity to meet their neighbourhood police officers and community safety team, and hear how they can get involved in working more closely with them in the future.

The first event was held in Old Trafford on Monday 9th July, with a presentation from Greater Manchester Police followed by lively discussion on local priorities and community solutions.

Future events will be held in:
