Trafford Council to consult with residents over George H Carnall Leisure Centre

Trafford Council is to consult with residents over the future development of the George H Carnall Leisure Centre in Urmston.

The event will update the community on the current position and ask for views on what residents would like to see included within and surrounding the site.

Local residents and businesses are invited to attend a public consultation drop in event on 21th May 2019 between 4pm and 7pm at George H Carnall  or alternatively at Urmston Library on 30th May 2019 between 2pm and 5pm.

In November 2016,  the Council’s Executive approved a plan to consolidate leisure services at an improved Urmston Leisure Centre (to be completed early 2020),  to consult with the local community on the closure of GHC as a leisure centre and identify opportunities for the future development of the building and adjoining land.

Cllr Andrew Western, Trafford Council leader, said:

The Council is keen to ensure that the views of the local community are heard and that any proposals taken forward for the George H Carnall will have benefited from the input and engagement of local residents and businesses. This will help us to achieve the best possible solution and maximise the potential of the site for the Urmston and nearby community.”
