Trafford Council supports more voluntary organisations with additional funding

Trafford Council has granted another £20,000 of funding to support local events and projects through the third round of its Inclusive Neighbourhood Grant scheme.

Grants of up to £500 have been awarded to individuals or community groups to fund one-off events and grants of up to £2,000 have been awarded to community groups to fund on-going projects.

For the third round of grants for 2019, over £39,000 worth of applications were received for £20,000 of funding and groups from across the borough such as Friends of Moor Nook Park were awarded £500 towards the cost of their sixth community fun day, and third Apple Festival in their local park in Sale.

Rachel Evans, Co-chair of Friends of Moor Nook Park, said:

We’re thrilled that the Inclusive Neighbourhood Grant will enable us to hold another Apple Festival at Moor Nook Park on 5 October. We’ve had incredible community support from local residents and businesses. Our previous events have really brought the community together and raised the profile of our valuable green space. Our 2018 Apple Festival was shortlisted for Raring to Go Magazine’s Best Family Event of the Year, proving just how much people value our input.”

Cllr Graham Whitham, Trafford Council’s Executive Member for Communities and Partnerships, said:

We are very proud of our Inclusive Neighbourhood Grant scheme and are delighted to be able to offer financial support to individuals and community groups in the borough.

Our vision is about making Trafford a better borough for all and these grants go some way in delivering that. The money we give out will have an immediate benefit to our residents and neighbourhoods."

The next funding round is now open and has a closing date of 31 July 2019. Application forms, funding and guidance notes can be found on our Inclusive Neighbourhood Grants page. For further information you can call 0161 912 1173 or email partnershipsteam@trafford.gov.uk.
