All the winners of the Trafford Sports Awards 2019

Simply the best! Meet Trafford’s team of 2019 – the borough’s heroes of the sporting world.

These are the winners of the Trafford Sports Awards 2019 who have selflessly sacrificed their time for others and demonstrated their commitment to sport and physical activity in the borough.

The winners were unveiled at a glittering awards ceremony organised by the Trafford Sport and Physical Activity Partnership at Hotel Football. Each of the winners in the eight categories were nominated by you and selected by an independent panel of judges, including representatives from the Partnership.

The organisers of the competition received hundreds of entries and found it almost impossible to pick the winners in each of the categories - Changing lifestyle recognition, Community initiative, Unsung hero, School commitment to PE and school sport, Volunteer of the year, Young sports achiever of the year, Workforce advocate of the year and Community Club / Group of the year.

The awards were presented by The Mayor of Trafford, Councillor Rob Chilton; Councillor Jane Slater, Executive Member for Health, Wellbeing and Equalities; Sara Todd, Chief Executive of Trafford Council; Sara Saleh, Corporate Director of People Trafford Council; Matt Stocks from GreaterSport, Kay Statham from Trafford School Sports Partnership, Jo Cherrett, Chief Operating Officer at Trafford Leisure and Ali Lavender from Human Race.

The Trafford Active Fund, supported by the Manchester Marathon, was proud to sponsor the Trafford Sports Awards and provided prizes for those judged to be doing great things for sport in the borough.

The Mayor of Trafford, Councillor Rob Chilton, said:

A massive congratulations to everyone who took part in The Trafford Sports Awards – you are all winners. And well done to all our winners – you are all local heroes who have made an outstanding contribution to your community.

This year’s event was a marvellous celebration of sport and physical activity in Trafford, with our sporting heroes the glittering stars of the show. We are so proud of each and every one of our sporting communities here in Trafford.

Trafford’s winners will now go on to represent the borough at the Greater Manchester Sports Awards in November."

Cllr Jane Baugh, Trafford Council’s Executive Member for Culture and Leisure, said:

We are delighted to have found the sporting superstars of Trafford – well done to each and every one of you. Every community in Trafford has its very own sporting superstars and we are very proud of you all."
