Funeral and cremation service review

Trafford Council has, regretfully, reviewed service provision following advice from the Government over funeral and cremation numbers.

The Government has announced that funerals and cremations can proceed with only immediate family members in attendance. The decision was taken to limit mourners attending burial and cremation services to 10 with immediate effect to enable safe social distancing and to protect staff and mourners.

We understand the upset at not being present at a loved one’s funeral, so all services at the Crematorium are being recorded and will be made available for families to distribute to those who could not attend free of charge.

During these difficult and upsetting times, we appreciate people feel the need to visit a grave but we ask that you consider whether at the moment travelling to a cemetery is an essential journey and to help us protect our staff for the difficult times ahead.

We are also sorry to announce that the bereavement office is closed at this time to protect our staff and the public.
