Charities and voluntary organisations providing assistance to vulnerable Trafford residents during the Covid-19 outbreak have expressed delight at news of a £10,000 donation to the Trafford Crisis Fund.
The Addleshaw Goddard Charitable Trust, a charity linked to law firm Addleshaw Goddard, made the generous contribution after learning about the vital work Trafford’s six Community Response Hubs have been doing since the start of the pandemic to help residents struggling with lack of food supplies, access to medical provision and isolation.
Based in Old Trafford, Stretford, Partington, Urmston, Sale and Altrincham, the Community Response Hubs were set up at the start of the COVID-19 lockdown to ensure that support was available to anyone isolated or vulnerable in the community, and currently provide anything from food parcels to wellbeing calls.
The Hubs’ initial operation was jointly funded by Trafford Housing Trust, Trafford Council and a number of voluntary sector partners and the Trafford Crisis Fund was subsequently launched to ensure the service can carry on as effects of the pandemic continue to bite.
Bruce Lightbody, Trustee of the Addleshaw Goddard Charitable Trust, said:
“One of the key objectives of The Addleshaw Goddard Charitable Trust is to help provide support to charities operating in the locality of the firm's offices, and we felt it especially important during this difficult time that we offer as much help as possible to those in need.
"We are delighted to be able support the Trafford Crisis Fund which is well known to our Manchester colleagues and delivers a service which is clearly so close to so many people's hearts."

“We would like thank the Addleshaw Goddard Charitable Trust for their generous donation, which will provide funding for those small, local organisations and their staff that are making such a huge difference in the borough.
“This donation will help to buy food parcels, nappies, petrol and other essentials, as well as supporting organisations that offer help and counselling for the homeless, people suffering with mental health issues or the victims of domestic abuse. We would also encourage like-minded businesses to join the Addleshaw Goddard Charitable Trust in contributing to this incredibly important resource, as we move towards our target of raising £250,000 to support the most vulnerable Trafford residents.”

“Our Community Response Hubs have been a lifeline to numerous people over the past 3 months, and we salute the way charities and voluntary organisations have worked so effectively with the Council to support our residents at a time of great need.
“Unfortunately, the need is not diminishing and the services the Hubs provide require ongoing funding. We’re incredibly grateful to the Addleshaw Goddard Charitable Trust for this very generous donation, which will make a real difference to many people across the borough.”
