Residents asked their views on Civic Quarter vision and strategy

Residents are being asked for their views on a document outlining Trafford Council’s vision and strategy for the regeneration of the area known as the Civic Quarter.

The draft Civic Quarter Area Action Plan (AAP) covers a 55 hectare area at the heart of Trafford including the Trafford Town Hall, the international sporting venue of Lancashire Cricket Club and the old B&Q site.

Ambitious plans for the area include new homes and offices, enhanced leisure facilities, new public realm including a processional route between Lancashire Cricket Club and Manchester United, and improved cycle and pedestrian connections.

The draft Civic Quarter Area Action Plan (AAP) is a vision and masterplan for the area in the form of a statutory Development Plan document and the Council is now consulting on it with residents and businesses in the area.

We are again seeking your views on the CQ AAP and your comments can be made over a period of seven weeks between 9am on Wednesday January 20, 2021 and 5pm on Friday 5 March 2021.

Cllr James Wright, Trafford Council’s Executive Member for Housing and Regeneration, said:

“We are totally committed to the regeneration of the Civic Quarter area and we want as many views as possible on this document. This will enable the Council to deliver massive change to this area and make it a superb destination to live, work and play. The development will be sustainable and diverse and will build on the area’s heritage and popularity. Thank you in advance for taking the time to provide your views.”
