Trafford Council to light up buildings for anti-racism event

Trafford Council is to light up two of its most famous buildings this weekend to mark an international anti-racism event.

Trafford Town Hall and Altrincham Town Hall will be lit up in purple to acknowledge UN Anti-Racism Day on Saturday, March 20.

The annual event, supported by a number of organisations, intends to raise awareness of racism on an international level and is expected to be marked with a national online conference involving speakers from the anti-racist movement.

Cllr Andrew Western, Leader of Trafford Council, said:

“There is absolutely no room for any racism in society and we will fight it in all its forms. Racism is deplorable and should not be happening in 2021.

Trafford Council is delighted to be lighting up Trafford Town Hall and Altrincham Town Hall to mark such an important event and to raise awareness of the anti-racist movement.”
