Shape Up For a Safe Summer

Shape up for summer

Let’s get fit and healthy to shape up for a safe summer!

That’s the message from Trafford Council as it launches its fabulous free family-friendly summer roadshows at venues across the borough throughout August.

The roadshows – Shape Up For a Safe Summer - are all about health, fitness and wellbeing and feature a number of sports, wellbeing events and family fun days.

They are open to all age groups and give communities the opportunity to get outdoors for some fun activities which are good for your mind, body, soul and general health - which of course can reduce the risks from Covid-19 and other diseases.

The roadshows, which offer advice on diet, getting active, stopping smoking and mental health, are being run by the Council’s Community Engagement Team and will be held in parks, libraries and shopping areas across the borough.

The fun kicks off on Monday August 2 at Sale West Community Centre where we will be hosting a number of fun family activities and then moves around the borough until August 27. Other activities during the month include over 50s boot camps, healthy eating, mindfulness, arts and crafts, team games and family fitness.

Cllr Liz Patel, Trafford Council’s Executive Member for Leisure and Culture, said:

“The last 16 months have been extremely hard on families and individuals as we have gone through long periods of lockdown and self-isolation. Everybody has been saying they have been missing group activities and getting out into the fresh air.

“Well now is your chance to make up for lost time, as our summer roadshows will be fun and interactive and will involve the whole community. Not only will we be getting involved in sport and other amazing activities, but will also be promoting messages about health and safety and advising you how you can stay safe this summer. Please come along and join us, you won’t regret it!”
