Struggling businesses get help to bounce back after Covid lockdowns

Key sectors of the business community are to receive targeted support from Trafford Council to help their recovery after the Covid lockdowns.

The Council is launching a range of new initiatives, funded from the Additional Restrictions Grant, to provide a comprehensive package of grants to support Trafford businesses through recovery following the pandemic.

The Trafford Additional Restrictions Grant scheme was launched in November 2020 and has been a huge success, financially supporting over 2,000 local businesses to date.

The new grants will provide funding to:

  • Support businesses to access International Markets
  • Support Green Investment and Skills Growth
  • Support Young People
  • Support Key Sectors
  • Support New Start Businesses

Companies are encouraged to visit the Council’s website to check their eligibility and to submit an application if appropriate.

Cllr Tom Ross, Trafford Council’s Executive Member for Finance and Governance, said:

"Since the beginning of Covid and through the various lockdowns, we have paid out just over £7m to local businesses that had been badly hit by the pandemic. Our new range of grants are aimed to support local business recovery, create jobs, support our young people and attract new investment into the borough.

The Council is focused on steering the borough through recovery and I am proud of the dedication of our officers in this work. I am delighted that we are continuing our extensive support for local businesses and urge all eligible businesses to apply.”

Full details of how to apply and the eligibility criteria can be found by clicking Additional Restrictions (Discretionary) Grant Scheme . Please supply all the required information at the time of making your application as this will speed up the process.
