Hundreds of women gathered in Trafford to tuck into a Brilliant Breakfast – for a brilliant cause!
More than 200 women headed to UA92 for the Brilliant Breakfast – a fundraising event to celebrate inspirational females and provide support to those young women who need our help most.
The event, which raises money for The Princes' Trust Women Supporting Women initiative, was a massive success and highlighted some of the awful issues vulnerable women faced throughout the pandemic including domestic abuse, homelessness and long-term unemployment.
Cllr Jane Slater, Trafford Council’s Executive Member for Health, Wellbeing and Equalities, said:
“The Brilliant Breakfast is a fantastic initiative aimed at supporting and helping vulnerable young women who have been hard hit by the Covid pandemic. It was amazing to see so many women gathered together behind the same cause – equality and helping those less fortunate.
It was fabulous to hear from the speakers on the panel – they are truly inspirational. Trafford Council is totally committed to providing targeted support to children and young people and improving health and wellbeing for residents across the borough. The Brilliant Breakfast will help do just that.”
The Brilliant Breakfast was co-hosted by Trafford Council along with UA92 and Trafford College. Inspirational speakers on the day included Kate Green MP, Cllr Jane Slater, Executive member for Heath, Wellbeing and Equalities and colleagues Charlotte Stoddard and Shanteh Manning. Students from Trafford College also shared their stories.
Isobelle Panton, UA92 Head of Student Recruitment and Admissions said:
“It was wonderful to welcome over 200 women onto our campus, supporting each other and raising much needed funds to support young women through The Princes Trust.
Hearing from our future talent panel was awe-inspiring, the adversity and real-life challenges these young women face is overwhelming, and yet, they are achieving so much every single day. The insight has been invaluable and we’ve all left feeling motivated and inspired to be our best and bring other women along with us. I am so excited to see how the network we created today can help empower these young women through mentoring, work, training and education for many years to come.”
Representing Trafford College, Emma Goodlet, Assistant Principal for Student Experience and Support said;
"We are extremely proud of our students for sharing their stories and the courage and inspiration that this gave today's audience. To see the strength, resilience, and ambition from so many young women in one place will be an experience that will stay with me for a long time. I have no doubt that the mentor opportunities from the day will be grasped with both hands, and I look forward to seeing the successes that come from this in the very near future."
