Council urges businesses to apply for new grants

Trafford Council is urging key sectors of the business community to apply for new grants to help support their recovery after the Covid lockdowns.

The Council has launched a range of new initiatives, funded from the Additional Restrictions Grant Scheme, to provide a comprehensive package of grants to support Trafford businesses through recovery following the pandemic.

The Trafford Additional Restrictions Grant scheme was launched in November 2020 and has been a huge success, financially supporting over 2,000 local businesses to date.

The new grants will provide funding to:

  • Support businesses to access International Markets
  • Support Green Investment and Skills Growth
  • Support Young People
  • Support Key Sectors
  • Support New Start Businesses

Companies are encouraged to visit the Council’s website to check their eligibility and to submit an application if appropriate.

Andy Beard, Managing Director of Great Days Holidays, a specialist group tour operator based in Altrincham, was successful in applying for an ARG grant from Trafford Council. He said:

“We applied and received a grant through the ARG scheme to help us post-Covid. The grant has helped us considerably and the support we received from Trafford Council during the entire process was superb. I would encourage other companies in our position to apply for the grant, the application process was simple and stress free. Thanks to the Council for all the help and support.”

Cllr Tom Ross, Trafford Council’s Executive Member for Finance and Governance, said:

"Since the beginning of Covid and through the various lockdowns, we have paid out over £7m to local businesses that had been badly hit by the pandemic. Our new range of grants are aimed to support local business recovery, create jobs, support our young people and attract new investment into the borough.

The Council is focused on steering the borough through recovery and I am proud of the dedication of our officers in this work. I am delighted that we are continuing our extensive support for local businesses and urge all eligible businesses to apply.”

Full details of how to apply and the eligibility criteria can be found on our Additional Restrictions (Discretionary) Grant Scheme page.
