Council and partners preparing for arrival of Ukrainian refugees

Trafford Council is working closely with a number of community and voluntary organisations in preparation for the arrival of refugees from the war-torn Ukraine.

The Council is leading a co-ordinated strategic response across all agencies and the community to welcome and support new arrivals to the borough from Ukraine.

If you wish to become a sponsor for a Ukrainian family fleeing the war, the first step is to register via the Government's Homes for Ukraine page rather than contact Trafford Council.  We are receiving information from Government on sponsors in Trafford who have registered and we will then contact you directly.

A spokesperson for Trafford Council said:

“We would firstly like to thank all our partners for the work they are putting in in preparation for the arrival of Ukrainian refugees to the borough.

“The Council, along with its partners, is carrying out accommodation suitability and safeguarding checks, administering Government-funded payments to sponsors, arranging school places for children and referring individuals to services and support including health, benefits and job seeking.

“We welcome Ukrainian refugees to our borough and will give them all the help and support they need to live their lives in peace.”

If you would like to help Ukrainian refugees coming into Trafford, please go to Ukrainian Response | Trafford hubs to make donations.
