Caring staff are now award winners!

An outstanding care home is celebrating after being named Regional Care Home of the Year North at the recent Caring UK Awards.

Staff at Bowfell House, in Urmston, attended the glittering ceremony in Leicester and were delighted to be get the nod from the judges.

Harry, a carer at the home, said: “It is a great honour to win this award, highlighting the hard work which has been done by everyone in the team over the past year.

“To be rated as the best Care Home in the whole of the North is crazy to think, and despite it being a regional award, it feels we have made our mark on the National scale.”

The care home currently supports 40 residents aged over 65.

Judges were wowed by the care home’s family ethos and staff’s compassion and dedication to residents.

The award comes on the back of an ‘outstanding’ rating by CQC inspectors, with Bowfell staff praised for their motivation and pride at working at the family-run home.

Cllr Karina Carter, Trafford Council’s Executive Member for Adult Services, said:

"This is fantastic news – well done to everyone at Bowfell.

“It’s so important that people of all ages can live life to the full and Bowfell’s amazing staff make sure this happens."

Residents and families have already responded to the award, writing on the home’s Facebook page, including: “Amazing news, many congratulations to everyone, so well deserved. You are all awesome, thank you for everything you do.”

Managers at the care home are now looking to organise a party with residents to celebrate the achievement.

Claire Callaghan, registered manager, added: “The face of health and social care has changed immeasurably over the last two and a half years, but our team have remained resilient, focussed and, above all else, caring. It is this whole home approach that has allowed us to excel.

“People will always remain at the heart of what we do, and we are now looking forward to celebrating this award with our team, our people, to show them that all their hard work has been recognised.”
