A new strategy to keep people moving across Trafford has been approved by the Council’s Executive.
The refreshed Trafford Moving strategy for sport and physical activity will be launched on Wednesday 22nd March at The Point, Lancashire County Cricket Club from 9am until 3pm.
The strategy aims to improve physical activity levels and mental health and wellbeing as well as addressing health and social inequalities in our communities.
The Trafford Moving launch day will focus on two key aspects:
- Developing a community-based approach to physical activity and understanding what is needed in different localities to enable residents to move more during their everyday lives.
- Understanding the needs of inactive communities and engaging with residents who face barriers to movement and being active.
We will hear from sector leaders and local communities on how they will support Trafford Moving and share knowledge and insight from the work they have done to enable movement in their work. You can book your place on the event clicking here
The event will be followed by locality launches in June, where local residents, groups and organisation can come along to launches in Old Trafford, Stretford/Gorse Hill, Sale Moor, Sale West, Broomwood and Partington and see how we can all enable Trafford to move more every day.
The strategy also supports the Council’s corporate priority to address health inequalities across the borough.
Cllr Jo Harding, Trafford Council’s Executive Member for Culture, Leisure and Strategic Partnerships, said: “Our vision is to enable Trafford residents to move more, every day by addressing the inequalities that form barriers to being active as well as linking to the Council’s corporate priorities of reducing health inequalities, supporting people out of poverty and addressing our climate crisis.
“We will achieve this vision by increasing the number of fairly-active residents year on year, this means the number of residents increasing the amount of moderate activity they do each week. I would encourage as many people as possible to attend the launch of this fabulous initiative.”
