Changing rooms refurbished at popular playing fields

An exciting project to refurbish changing rooms at the popular Turn Moss Playing fields has been completed.

Trafford Council teamed up with the Football Foundation on the scheme to completely refurbish the facilities at the popular venue in Stretford.

The successful scheme, carried out thanks to a grant of £235,000 from the Football Foundation, is one a series of legacy projects linked to the successful Women’s European Championship in 2022.

Trafford Council will now be working with existing clubs in the area and Manchester FA to increase opportunities for women and girls to play football and is proactively working to secure investment in the grass pitches at Turn Moss.

Trafford Council Leader, Cllr Tom Ross, said: “We are delighted to be opening the brand new changing rooms at Turn Moss which will benefit hundreds of people who use the facilities now and in the future.

The Council is totally committed to improving sports facilities and the health and wellbeing of residents in the borough. You never know, the next Ella Toone could soon be using these facilities.”

Cllr Jo Harding, Trafford Council’s Executive Member for Culture, Leisure and Strategic Partnerships, said: “This is fantastic news for everyone who uses the changing rooms at Turn Moss. The Council is all about improving leisure facilities across the borough and this is another example of our good work in this field. Thank you to everyone who has contributed towards this project.”

A more formal opening ceremony will be organised in May 2023, which will include representation from the Football Foundation and community clubs.
