Bright future for Altrincham's Grafton Quarter

Exciting changes are taking place in Altrincham this Spring – and that spells great news for the ever popular and award-winning town centre.

Trafford Council is expanding its huge investment in the town centre to improve the public realm – and on top of that more and more new businesses are opening up in the popular Grafton Quarter.

The Council’s public realm work is enhancing the look and feel of the town centre – winner of the best high street in 2018 - to benefit residents, businesses and attract more visitors. Work is continuing along George Street to provide resurfacing, new planters, trees, cycle stands and seating areas to encourage food and drink establishments to expand outdoors.

And in another major boost, two new lifestyle venues will be joining the Grafton Quarter this year, Bayse Boutique Gym and British Military Fitness. They will sit amongst last year's new openings, Homebird Interiors and Strength Collective. The new lettings reflect the growing demand for outlets in successful market towns.

A project is underway to further enliven the space around the old Grafton Centre with bright and colourful public art. North West artists are being invited to assist in enlivening the street to celebrate the bright future ahead for Altrincham. They will also be taking part in workshops with local schools, inviting the children of Altrincham to celebrate their bright futures (and that of the town).

Councillor Liz Patel, The Executive Member for Economy and Regeneration said: “I am delighted that the Grafton Quarter is embarking on a period of positive change and looking forward to seeing new tenants and an improved environment over the coming months.

“Watch this space as summer will be lively and exciting, with lots of plans to take place in the lighter months ahead.”
