New Chair for Trafford's Strategic Safeguarding Partnership

Trafford Council, on behalf of Trafford Strategic Safeguarding Partnership (TSSP), is pleased to announce the appointment of Liz Murphy as the new Independent Chair and scrutineer of the borough’s multi-agency safeguarding partnership.

TSSP brings together partners including the local authority, police, health and education and community partners to work together to protect and promote the safety and wellbeing of the most vulnerable residents from abuse and neglect.

As the new Chair, Ms Murphy brings a wealth of experience to the role including working in the statutory, faith and voluntary sectors. More recently as an independent safeguarding specialist, Ms Murphy has acted as scrutineer of a number of children and all-age safeguarding partnerships, as well as chairing several safeguarding adult boards.

Trafford Council Leader, Cllr Tom Ross, said:

“Following a rigorous appointment process, we are delighted to welcome Liz Murphy as the new Chair of our safeguarding partnership. Liz brings great expertise to this role and shares our passion for improving the lives of children and adults with support and care needs.

We are looking forward to working with Liz and drawing on her impressive breadth of knowledge and experience to get the best out of the partnership, and ensure it is improving outcomes for our children, young people and adults in Trafford.”

Liz Murphy said:

“I am delighted to be afforded the opportunity to work with partner agencies in Trafford to support them to do all they can to protect the most vulnerable residents. This will include understanding how children and adults with care and support needs access help and the difference that help makes to their lives.

Their experiences will be used to identify how partners can develop the ways they work together to protect other residents."

Cllr Ross also paid tribute to the outgoing Chair of TSSP, Maureen Noble, saying: “I would like to extend our great thanks to Maureen Noble, who has led TSSP since 2017. She has been a driving force in establishing the partnership and has been a committed and knowledgeable Chair.

"Maureen leaves the partnership in a strong position to continue the excellent work it has done to date and we are grateful for all her contributions.”
