Vehicle transfer

How to transfer a vehicle plate

We have a policy on vehicle age and emission standards as follows:

  • Private Hire vehicles must be less than 10 years old at the time of application
  • Private Hire vehicles that are wheelchair accessible must be less than 15 years old at the time of application
  • Hackney Carriages Vehicles must be less than 15 years old at the time of application
  • In addition the vehicle must meet the current Euro emission standards for example Euro 4 (Petrol vehicles registered from 1 January 2006); or Euro 6 (Diesel vehicles registered after September 2015).
  • The exceptional condition (age) policy no longer applies
  • We cannot accept vehicles written off in any category

Seating configuration

If your vehicle has been modified or has more than four passengers, you will need a seating configuration.

If a seat has to be tipped forward in order to access any rear seats, then the seat will have to be removed and this will affect the overall number of passengers that may be carried.

You can arrange a seating configuration by completing the online form.
