About business rates
Business rates are collected by the Council and are used to help pay for local services provided by the Council. Business rates are charged on most non-domestic properties (including commercial), for example:
- Shops
- Offices
- Pubs
- Warehouses
- Factories

New businesses
If you have recently moved your business into a non-domestic property in Trafford, or plan to shortly, let us know by contacting the Business Rates team using our general enquiry form.
Relief schemes
If you pay business rates, you may be entitled to rate relief that will help reduce your bill. This is sometimes automatic, but you will need to apply directly for a number of the relief schemes available. You can find more information about the several rate relief schemes available on our Reductions and Relief page.
